Made possible by several international collaborations between museums and institutions, “The Cinquecento in Florence” surprises the visitor in every room starting with the “trio of marvels” made up of the “Deposition of the cross” from Volterra” by Rosso Fiorentino, the “Deposition” from Santa Felicita by Pontormo, and the “Deposed Christ” from Besancon by Bronzino. This last work in particular is in Florence for the very first time just for this occasion. Making the exhibition even more extraordinary is the restoration campaign launched by Palazzo Strozzi to find resources to safeguard and conserve many of the works of art exhibited. This is the last act of the trilogy of exhibitions put together by Carlo Falciani and Antonio Natali the first being in 2010 with a show on Bronzino, followed by Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino in 2014. This latest exhibition celebrates the sacred and profane art of the glorious Cinquecento and is the chance to see works of art from private collections.
Open every day from 10:00am until 8:00pm and on Thursdays until 11:00pm. For a guided tour of this exhibition, contact us at info@walksinsideflorence.it.
