Tuscany is famous all over the world for many reasons: its ancient cities full of artistic treasures, its breathtaking landscapes, its delicious traditional cuisine and, last but not least, its world famous wines. Tuscan is, in fact, the region of Chianti, so a holiday here is also a chance to taste fine Tuscan wines in the beautiful surroundings in which they are grown.

In particular the Chianti Classico region is famous worldwide as the home of some of Italy’s best wineries, located in the country side near Florence and Siena, among woods and olive groves. The Chianti Classico region is the area that goes from just outside Florence to Siena, and from Tavernelle in the west to Gaiole in the east. It includes charming towns like Greve in Chianti, Panzano, and Castellina.

Provided that a visit to the Chianti region (possibly with a wine tour included) is practically mandatory, you can choose to visit it on your own or with a private Chianti tour without worrying about renting a car and then driving. Furthermore with a guided tour you won’t miss anything, visiting all the most famous and beautiful places in the Chianti area, like Greve, San Gimignano and Siena.

You will have the possibility to visit a winery for a wine tasting of different types of wine enjoying also other Tuscan specialties such as olive oil, salami, ham, cheeses, bruschetta and delicious traditional biscuits. But it doesn’t end here, because you’ll also learn something interesting about the wine making process.

As an alternative, for a wine tasting in Florence, you can also stop in an enoteca (a kind of wine shop) after one of our Florence tours. In an enoteca you will only be spoil for choice among hundreds of different wines. It will be hard to decide which ones to taste!

Also the villages of the Chianti region are full of these wine shops, always very cosy, with typical furniture and a joyful atmosphere. Indeed, is there anything better than sitting with a glass of wine and a bruschetta, looking outside the amazing hills of Chianti?
